We are looking for kind, caring, passionate candidate to join our team here at Scribbles Day Nursery.

We are a stand alone privately owned full day nursery. We are open from 7.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday 51 weeks a year. At Scribbles it is our aim to offer a highly professional and dedicated nursery with a home from home atmosphere. We believe that the key to a successful nursery is putting the children's needs first and nurturing a close partnership between the nursery and families. In addition to the children's daily regular routine the nursery provides many extra curricular activities throughout the day.


Nursery Practitioner

  1. Level 3
  2. 40 hours per week (4 days - 3 long days and 1 short day)
  3. Nursery is open 7.00am - 6.00pm (Shifts will be between these hours)
  4. Full time / permanent

Purpose of post

  1. Ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare and safety is promoted.
  2. Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in the nursery.
  3. Give support to other team members throughout the nursery.
  4. Work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Follow the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure.
  2. Work alongside your room leader to ensure that the room is running smoothly and effectively.
  3. Operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members.
  4. Keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share these with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.
  5. Support all staff and engage in maintaining a good staff team.
  6. Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
  7. Be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parents evening, fundraising events etc.
  8. Keep up to date with relevant CPD training courses.
  9. Be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snacks, meals, cleaning equipment etc.


Specific childcare tasks

· Prepare and complete activities to suit each individual child's stage of development and interests.

· Develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key person/worker.

· Ensure that meal times are a time of pleasant social sharing.

· Wash and change children as required.

· Ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.

· Ensure a poorly child is treated appropriately and management is notified immediately.

· Develop and maintain strong partnerships and communications with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.

· Provide a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history.
